This privacy policy explains exactly what Xbox Gamertag Finder collects, what it doesn't, and how cookies and advertising work on this site, in our browser extension and in our Android app.
Last updated: October 31, 2026
This privacy policy covers every tool on xboxgamertagfinder.com, including the Gamertag Finder, Availability Checker, Online Status Finder, Gamertag Tracker, Gamertag Generator, and Gamerscore Finder. It also covers our browser extension and our Gamertag Finder Android app, each described in its own section below.
When you search a gamertag, we send that search to Xbox Live's public API to fetch the profile you're looking for. We don't require sign-in, and we don't ask for or store your own Xbox credentials, email, or password at any point.
We keep basic usage statistics — like the total number of searches performed site-wide — to understand how the tools are used. Visitor analytics are collected with Google Analytics, as described under Cookies & Tracking. We do not ask you for your name or any account details to use the tools.
Like most websites, our servers and third-party services (including our analytics and advertising partners) automatically log certain technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages viewed. This "log data" is standard practice across the web and is used for security, troubleshooting, analytics and ad delivery, not to identify you personally.
The Xbox Live profile details our tools show — a gamertag, Gamerscore, profile picture and online status — are public information that Xbox makes available. Results are fetched from Xbox Live when you search, and may be cached on our server for a short time.
When a gamertag is searched on xboxgamertagfinder.com, we may save a copy of these public details on our own server. Saved copies are used for the site's leaderboards, statistics and Gamerscore history. Some of this information may also be shown on public profile pages and in lists on the site. We ask search engines not to index these profile pages. Saved details are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until we clear out low-value records; they are not deleted automatically on a fixed schedule.
We do not save private Xbox account information, and we never ask for your Xbox login. If you would like a gamertag's saved information removed from the site, you can ask us at any time — see Your Rights & Data Deletion.
The Xbox Gamertag Finder browser extension (for Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox) works the same way as the tools on this website: when you search a gamertag from the extension's popup, it sends that gamertag to our own server at xboxgamertagfinder.com — the same API the website tools use — which looks up the public Xbox Live profile and returns the result to the extension.
To protect the service from automated abuse, the popup loads a small hidden page from xboxgamertagfinder.com that runs a Cloudflare Turnstile security check. Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address and browser details for this check, as described in the Security & Bot Protection section below and in Cloudflare's own Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
The extension only has permission to communicate with xboxgamertagfinder.com. It does not read your browsing history, does not run on any page other than its own popup, does not require you to sign in, and does not collect analytics beyond the basic, non-identifying usage stats described above. The extension does not store your searches on your device.
For display purposes, the popup loads fonts from Google Fonts and profile pictures from Xbox's public image servers. If a profile picture is not available, a placeholder image is generated by ui-avatars.com, which receives the gamertag letters needed to draw the placeholder. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
This privacy policy applies to the extension the same way it applies to the website. The extension is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft or Xbox.
The Gamertag Finder Android app offers the same kind of public gamertag tools as the website: searching a gamertag, checking availability, generating and finding similar gamertags, comparing two players, and tracking Gamerscore over time. The app does not require you to create an account or sign in, and it never asks for your Xbox or Microsoft credentials, email address or password.
What the app sends to our server. When you search a gamertag or use a tool that needs profile information, the app sends the gamertag you typed, a randomly generated install ID, and your IP address (which is visible to any server you connect to) to our server at xboxgamertagfinder.com. Our server uses this to fetch the public Xbox Live profile and return it to the app. The install ID is created by the app itself and is not tied to your name, email address or any account.
How we use the install ID and IP address. The install ID and IP address are used only to limit the number of requests (rate limiting) and to protect the service from abuse. They are kept in short-lived counters stored as scrambled (hashed) values, and these counters are deleted automatically within about 24 hours. We do not use them for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell them. Our web hosting provider may also keep standard server access logs for a limited period, as described under "Log data" above.
What stays on your device. Saved players, recent searches and Gamerscore tracker history are stored only on your device. We do not receive copies of these lists. You can remove individual entries (for example, with the trash icon in the tracker and Saved lists), or clear everything at once.
Deleting your local data. Open Tools → About, privacy & data in the app and choose Delete all local data. This removes saved players, recent searches and tracker history from your device. Uninstalling the app also removes this local data.
Leaderboard. The app's Leaderboard lists public profiles that have been searched on xboxgamertagfinder.com and have 25,000+ Gamerscore. It is not an official or global ranking, and the information shown is the same public Xbox profile information available on the website.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. The Xbox Live profile information shown in the app (such as gamertag, Gamerscore and profile picture) is public information, not private account data. The app is an independent third-party application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft or Xbox. Questions about the app can be sent through our Contact Us page.
On our website, like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies for basic site functionality, security and analytics. For example, we use Google Analytics to measure which pages and tools are most useful, Cloudflare to protect and speed up the site, and CookieYes to show our cookie consent banner and remember your choice. Third-party advertising partners may also set cookies, as described in the Advertising section. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some features may work less smoothly without them.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Your cookie choices. When you first visit the site, a banner lets you choose Accept All, Reject All, or Customise your choices by category. For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage is off by default until you give consent. For visitors elsewhere, Google Analytics may set its cookies when you first visit. Your choice is stored in a cookie named cookieyes-consent, and you can change it at any time with the cookie settings button at the bottom-left of the page.
For a full breakdown of individual cookies used on this site, see our Cookie Policy.
To keep our gamertag lookup tools available and accurate for real visitors, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused security check that runs invisibly in the background to confirm a request is coming from a real person rather than an automated bot. Unlike a traditional CAPTCHA, Turnstile doesn't ask you to click images or solve puzzles.
Turnstile processes a small set of technical signals — such as IP address and browser information — solely to tell humans and bots apart; it does not read or store anything you type into our tools. For full details, see Cloudflare's own Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
This site uses or may use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites on the internet.
Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
To learn how Google uses data when you use our site, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and Google's Privacy & Terms.
We do not control the cookies set by third-party advertisers, and we do not share your name or contact details with them. Advertising applies to the website only; our browser extension and Android app do not show ads served through the website.
Some pages link out to official Xbox or Microsoft support pages. Once you leave xboxgamertagfinder.com, this privacy policy no longer applies — those sites have their own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review separately.
Xbox Gamertag Finder, including our browser extension and Android app, is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it promptly.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold. Since we collect very little personal data by design, most requests can be resolved quickly. This section applies to the Xbox Gamertag Finder website, browser extension and Android app (listed on Google Play as "Gamertag Generator & Finder"), all operated by xboxgamertagfinder.com.
How to request deletion of your data:
What we can delete, and what is deleted automatically:
We do not keep any account, email address or password for app users, because the app has no accounts. If you contact us, we use your email address only to reply to you.
We may update this privacy policy occasionally as tools are added or regulations change, and we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the site, extension or app after an update means you accept the revised version. For general site usage terms, see our Disclaimer.
No. Every tool works without sign-in, and this privacy policy confirms we never ask for your Xbox login details.
We do not sell personal data. Analytics and advertising partners such as Google may collect cookie and log data when you visit the website, as described in the Cookies & Tracking and Advertising sections.
Public profile details (gamertag, Gamerscore, profile picture, online status) may be saved for leaderboards, statistics and history, and some may appear on public profile pages. You can ask us to remove them — see Public Profile Data We Save.
Use the cookie settings button at the bottom-left of any page to reopen the banner and update your choices. See Cookies & Tracking and our Cookie Policy for details.
Use Google's Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. More detail is in the Advertising section.
No. Saved players, recent searches and tracker history stay on your device only. When you search, the app sends the gamertag you typed, a random install ID and your IP address to our server so it can fetch the public profile. The install ID and IP address are used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention, and are deleted automatically within about 24 hours.
Go to Tools, open "About, privacy & data", and tap "Delete all local data". You can also remove single entries from the Saved and tracker lists, or uninstall the app. To ask us to delete anything held on our side, follow the steps in Your Rights & Data Deletion.
Use our Contact Us page or email [email protected] — we read and respond to every message.
